He was maybe a shade too nice, and definitely a bit too old. Hugh Bonneville was actually an excellent Mr. Bennett, and would be my second choice. Donald Sutherland was amusing in the role, but came off as too weary.Gingerhttp://austenpride.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33189102.post-25658229185013023552009-06-24T08:17:21.010-04:002009-06-24T08:17:21.010-04:00Whitlow is my favorite Mr Bennet from all the P/P ...Whitlow is my favorite Mr Bennet from all the P/P adaptations. Second is Moray Watson from the 1980 adaptation. The mistake is unpardonable and I ask for Mr. Whitrow's forgiveness. They all did so well with the part. It's amazing how they were able to stay true yet be so different!Heather Carrollhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03544318718074061879noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33189102.post-40341324341776304092009-06-21T18:04:03.085-04:002009-06-21T18:04:03.085-04:00The first person that popped into mind was Benjami...The first person that popped into mind was Benjamin Whitrow! He defined Mr B for me. I totally forgot about my dear Mr Bonneville playing that part and his performance was one of the highlights of Lost in Austen but I still have to go with Benjamin!Charleybrownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07411948723536117366noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33189102.post-70678713444890532332009-06-21T11:49:59.721-04:002009-06-21T11:49:59.721-04:00I loved Donald Sutherland, but I also loved this v...I loved Donald Sutherland, but I also loved this version of P&P. He is delightful as Mr. Bennet. His charm comes thru in every scene and his asides about others are hilarious to hear and see. In short, he's perfect in my book !

Donald is too old and I did not like him in the part...Hugh, I felt was too young for the role, just my opinions...throwdowns are my Nonnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03227580166409342214noreply@blogger.com
