Catherine: "Do I! Oh perfectly."
Mrs. Allen: "It was very agreeable, was not it? Mr Tilney drank tea with us, and I always thought him a great addition, he is so very agreeable. I have a notion you danced with him but am not quite sure." - Northanger Abbey, Jane Austen
Silk gloves add an elegant touch to a ball gown, as Mrs. Allen described, or a luxurious note to a formal outfit. Silk is also an excellent insulator. Worn next to the body, the cloth holds in body heat. It is even used to insulate space vehicles! Better yet, silk threads are hypoallergenic and can be worn next to even the most sensitive skin. When knitted, silk provides the malleability most desired for gloves and active wear. Soft, luxurious, and durable, silk is the ideal gift for someone special. If you're looking for a unique gift that costs less than $25, look no more:
- Winter silk glove liners
- Colorful recycled silk gloves for the "green" minded
- Fancy silk gloves: From hand crocheted to opera length

Thanks for a great idea for a Christmas gift. I don't why but this year I'm absolutely without inspiration regrading choosing of presents. I still don't know what to give to half of my dearest. Anyway, silk gloves are I think very good idea.

Just yesterday I bought silk glove liners for myself. I wore them under my fleece mittens (I'm extremely sensitive to cold) and am completely in love with them. They are the most comfortable, warm, amazing things. I think everyone should have a pair!!
ReplyDeleteI am planning to knit a pair of silk opera gloves as well as mitts. I am already planning my wardrobe for when I get to Bath for the re-creation!
ReplyDeleteI haven't worn a pair of silk gloves since I was a child...Katxena had a good idea to use them as mitten liners too !
ReplyDeleteI've been tossing about the idea of making myself a pair. Gloves seem daunting though.
