Where are They Now? Matthew MacFadyen

Jane Austen fans know him best as Mr. Darcy, but Matthew Macfadyen has been busy lately. His turn as the rather lumpish plain-looking John Birt in Frost/Nixon (right) was well done, and American audiences will see him this spring as Arthur Clennam in Little Dorrit on PBS (below).
The Haagen Danz commercial featured in this YouTube video is not recent. But for those of you who wonder about Matthew's appeal to the ladies, just LISTEN to his lovely voice. Drool. I don't care if it is 20 degrees farenheit outside, cool me down with an ice cream, quick.

He is wonderful !

I have followed his career for a few years, pegged him for future greatness and finally he has broken thru with great success. That gives me no end of pleasure.

When he's on the big screen or TV, I can't take my eyes off him...the more Matthew, the better !

I had no idea, until recently, that he was married to the famous Keely Hawes of Wives and Daughters and Under the Greenwood Tree. What a delightful couple...

Oh I loved him in the series MI5 and was glad to see him in Pride and Prejudice. He's a great actor.

I can't wait for more people to catch Little Dorrit! I was surprised to find out that more have not yet seen this great mini-series. For those of us who watched it on Youtube and had to search to catch episodes after BBC kept deleting channels, it was well worth it! Matthew and his co-star Claire Foy are great and that's not even counting the rest of the awesome cast!

Oh, goodness, I forgot to add Matthew's turn as Hareton Earnshaw in the 1998 drama. He was spectacular. Click here: http://www.wuthering-heights.co.uk/characters/hareton.htm

Sweet Guy! :)

He was very gentle in Little Dorrit besides P&P. I love them all so much!

And recently I've started to see Spooks, and I'm into it as well. :)

Yes one of the cool Darcy's not like that nancy-boy, Colin Firth!

Hmm. Doesn't that picture of him as Darcy look just a bit Firth-y? perhaps its the snobby/awkward expression on his face. I think he's second fiddle to Colin, but he did a good job.

Nonetheless I am more than excited to see him as Arthur Clenham.
