Salinger is taking author John David to court to put a stop to a sequel that will "pay tribute" to Holden 60 years after Catcher in the Rye is set.
Rubbish, says Salinger, who states through his lawyer, “The sequel is not a parody and it does not comment upon or criticize the original. It is a rip-off pure and simple.”

Salinger still alive? I thought he was gone! I'm happy he can fight for his Holden. I've loved him so much. Now I love to read some "special" pages to my teenage students. Holden's conversation with Phoebe about the catcher in the rye? Poetic prose.
P.S.I've also got special pages from Jane Austen I love to read to them.
Well fancy that! lol
Wow! I thought he had passed as well. I just bought Catcher in the Rye for a summer read. it had been more than 20 years since I last read it.
Good for him...I am not too fond of knockoffs myself !
"Salinger still alive?"
Yes, allegedly he has never stopped writing but will not allow any more of his work to be published while he lives. Think "Finding Forester".
I really like Franny and Zooey, myself.
