Hot off the artist’s computer is the new cover of Michael Thomas Ford’s novel Jane Bites Back.This new novel due out 29 December 2009 has definitely caught my attention and should be of interest to Jane Austen admirers, Twilight fans, and the vampire crowd. Here’s the press release description when the three book deal was announced by Ballantine in June 2008.
The novel presents an undead Jane Austen, frustrated by nearly 200 years of writer's block and 116 rejections of an unpublished novel she finished just before turning into a vampire; she's becoming increasingly irritated that the rest of the world seems to be getting rich and famous off of her works and her life. and yet Mary Shelley wrote her Frankenstien at about the same time. Do you think Austen (and the Dashwoods) would have read it?
The traditional Jane Austen fans are having a fit over all these "Austen" books coming out and not being in the same vein as hers.
