Jeni James, author of teen modernized rewrites of Jane Austen’s novels, has written to announce that Northanger Alibi was picked up by Valor Publishing. It will be released on June 1st. Jeni knew “from the beginning that Northanger Abbey would be my biggest challenge to rewrite. Since it is the most unfamiliar/unread of all the Austen books. I love it! I think it is extremely funny and a complete satire of the gothic novels that were popular at the time. To modernize this, I needed to base my story off of massively popular modern gothic novels. Enter the Twilight Series.”The Russo family, who live in Seattle, are no match for Claire Hart. Thanks to her obsession with The Twilight series, her savvy knowledge of all things vampire related is incomparable. Claire is positive that totally hot Tony Russo is a vampire, she only has to prove it! Northanger Alibi follows Claire's hilarious journey on her first summer adventure away from home, where she learns everything isn't what it seems, and in some instances, reality is better than anything she'd ever find in a book.

Wow, this sounds pretty good! When I just read the title of this post I was like "oh no, not again"! But this one really can be a book I can enjoy! Can't wait to hear more about it!

when I've read the title, like Milka, I've thought, "no, no, no"! But like Milka again, and reading the others titles... yes! it is quite possible that I like them.
Clever, but still a bit nauseating in terms of the Twilight obsession.
This sounds cute and, I'll admit, the title "Northanger Alibi" had me laughing. :)

And er, just for the record... this IS a satire you know, I mean, it's about a girl WAY too obessesed with vampires to think rationally.
So far, it seems to appeal well to both audiences: The ones who roll their eyes and laugh at the vamp obsession and the girls who are so addicted they completely understand Claire.
I'm more Jane here, I'm taking a back seat and seeing the humor in both.

I've read Northanger Alibi and it's fantastic! So funny and entertaining. Claire reminds me of every teen girl who refuses to leave home without her very worn copy of Twilight. Just awesome. :)
I agree with Heather Carroll about the Twilight obsession thing.
