Colin Firth (Mr. Darcy, 1995) and wife Livia managed to keep dry on the red carpet. He was nominated for A Single Man.
Caret Mulligan (Kitty Bennet, 2005 & Isabella Thorpe, 2007) brought her mom, and sported a cute hair band. Sadly, she did not win for An Education.
Kate Winslet (Marianne Dashwood, 1996) looked regal and spectacular in an Yves St. Laurent gown. She presented a Golden Globe to Jeff Bridges for Best Actor in Crazy Heart.
And although Emily Blunt (nominated for Young Victoria) has not yet portrayed a Jane Austen character in a film, she is removed by only one degree of separation, having performed opposite Anne Hathaway (Becoming Jane) in The Devil Wears Prada and as Prudie in the Jane Austen Book Club
Addition:
Mention must be made of Janet McTeer, Mrs. Dashwood, 2007, (Thanks Deborah) for HBO's Into the Storm. Unfortunately, I could find no image of her at the Award Ceremony.

oh and janet mcteer (sense and sensibility 2008) was there too, nominated for Into the Storm! But I don't think her dress was very memorable though
Emily Blunt was also in The Jane Austen Book Club movie!! She was my favorite character - Prudie.
Great post, I missed the Globes!
Oh, excellent Deborah and Janefan. I'd forgotten Emily's turn in JA Book Club. As for Janet, I didn't even see her. Let me see if I can find a photo!
Ah, don't forget Mulligan has two Austens on her resume, she was Isabella Thorpe in the new Northanger Abbey adaptaion from a couple years ago as well. Shame she didn't win.
Is it possible?
That the craft of acting is best developed by first playing in classical productions such as Jane Austen because they teach one about character development?
Or is it something an actor just has to go through to get the better parts?
Odessa, I keep forgetting Carey's turn as Isabella. It was so well done and out of character (at least from my point of view, because I think she is so cute) that I forget her performance. Thanks!
I heard Mr and Mrs Firth won the best dressed in couple. Great post!
Really Angelic
Interesting post. Thanks for the information on the audio book contest.
Colin Firth looks so hot in that photo. His wife is one lucky lady!
Thanks for this post...
I don't watch awards shows anymore but I sometimes peek in on shows that cover what everyone was wearing...they are hilarious !
I think most actors and actresses etc. go to the shows to promo their next great projects/charities and if they win something, all the better...It's not called Show BUSINESS for nothing ! ( free advertising for the fashion and movie/T.V. industries, high end $$$ goodie bags to presenters, nominees, winners, free clothes, fab before show luncheons etc. ) "Face time" ( to put yourself out there on the hiring block for the next project) and producing a show covering the whole event is a cash cow too !!!
This is off point, but Janet McTeer and David Timson do a wonderful reading of Wuthering Heights. I just finished the audiobook, and McTeer in particular was amazing as Nelly Dean.
