“My soul is still Irish,” he says. The Eclipse not only would bring him home, to Cove in County Cork, but he’d be an Irish leading man — a grieving, troubled, would-be writer who sees ghosts and longs to start something with the fetching horror author visiting his town. Hinds won the best actor prize at the Tribeca Film Festival and glowing notices as “the wonderful and always underrated Ciarán Hinds” (Boxoffice Magazine) for the film, now opening in some U.S. cities.”

He's not handsome enough...Sorry.
Steamy Darcy
Hes not handsome, I agree with Enid, but compelling.
While this isn't my favorite picture of him, I think he is not only handsome, but extremely distinguished looking, which is more important. Oh, other than being a phenomenal actor ( I adored him in Rome).
Not only did I love him in Persuasion but I loved him in the version he did of Jane Eyre with Morton. Wentworth and Rochester are not the most handsome of men. I think that Hinds was a perfect choice.

I have also enjoyed seeing Mr. Hind's career develop, he's a very able actor! He may not be dashingly handsome but his portrayal of Captain Wentworth is the definitive one for me. I don't want Captain Wentworth to be too handsome, he needs to be a bit weather beaten, other actors just haven't given the idea that they knew anything about life at sea. Mr. Hind's portrayal is spot on, gallant, charming, a great story teller, a deep thinker and very romantic! :)
My favorite Austen Novel and my favorite adaption is with him as Captain Wentworth! I'll be looking for this movie, thanks so much for sharing it!
I agree with Lady Bug-Laurie !
First time I saw him was in a movie Called "The Crying Man" and I was hooked on him as an actor forever !!!
Ciaran Hinds is Captain F Wentworth. I just love him.
Hinds brought a certain vulnerability to his portrayal of Wentworth which is pivotal to the plot. That's why he's the best Wentworth!
He is more than handsome, sorry! Perfect!
