Jane Austen Actresses at Cannes 2010

Carey Mulligan and Kate Beckinsale played roles in movie adaptations for Pride and Prejudice 2005 and Northanger Abbey 2007 (above); and Emma 1996 (below). Aren't they lovely?

Carey is promoting Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, and Kate is one of the Cannes Film Festival judges.

Kate's dress is just dreamy. :-)

I think you mean Northanger Abbey 2007, not Persuasion. ;-)

Actually, Mulligan was in both the version of Pride and Prejudice mentioned in the post and Northanger Abbey 2007.

There should probably be an award for double Austen depictions. ;)

Thank you! I keep thinking that the divine Carey played Eleanor Tilney, but it was Isabella Thorpe. Her innocent face keeps fooling me!

Carey is in Wall Street? Cool. She looks amazing. Who would have thought Kitty would grow into such a lovely lady.

Wow Kate looks stunning! Lurve the up-do hair. Carrie still doesn't look like she's all too comfortable with the fame.

Which makes Carey adorable in my book, Chachaneen! Thank you for stopping by - I always enjoy your comments.

Carey Mulligan is one of my favorite actors.. she's excellent in 'An Education.' I'd enjoyed her in Bleak House as Ada Clare too. But she soon may shatter her sweet girl image if she is indeed to be starred in the English version of 'The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo'. But, I also look forward to her playing Eliza Doolittle in the remake of 'My Fair Lady.' Great future for her!
