Chatting With Laurie Viera Rigler

Gentle Readers,

Tonight's 2-hour chat with the author of the Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict was a delight. Laurie Viera Rigler donated copies of her book to the following winners: Dina for leaving a question for Laurie to answer, and to Miss Julia and Sara for chatting the entire two hours. Please join us again when we chat next time.

Miss Julia please email your mailing address to janeaustensworld at gmail dot com.

Tonight's the night for our chat with author Laurie Viera Rigler! (See details in the sidebar). Please return to this blog for chatroom instructions. We will place them here before the chat begins at 7 pm Pacific time and 10 pm EST. If you live in another part of the world and wonder if you can participate, here's a handy time zone converter. For example, if it's 10 pm EST in the U.S., then it's twelve noon the following day in Sydney, Australia. How cool is that?

We will start the chat by announcing the first book winner. There is still time to leave a question for Laurie in this post on, which will qualify you for a chance to win one of the books Laurie will be giving away.

Speaking of cool, Jane Austen and her era seem to pop up everywhere I look!

Please note: Because of our chat with Laurie Viera Rigler tonight our Mrs. Elton Sez letter, which is normally scheduled for Tuesday, will be placed on our blog tomorrow.

Tuesday Night Chat With Laurie Viera Rigler

We'll place the instructions to enter our chatroom on this blog an hour before the chat on August 12th! For more details, please visit our sidebar.

Laurie Viera Rigler, author of the Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict, was featured in the most recent edition of JASNA News, the newsletter of the Jane Austen Society of North America. The article described her love for all things Jane Austen and her articles in her blog, Jane Austen Addict. I was thrilled to note that Laurie's article for this blog, "Ten Ways to Cope Without the Complete Jane Austen Series", was mentioned, and that links to our blogs, Jane Austen Today, Jane Austen's World, and Austenprose, were also provided.

Speaking of JASNA, the annual meeting, which will be held in Chicago in early October, is full. This is bad news for procrastinators who were waiting to register, but great news for the society and proof positive that Jane Austen is more popular than ever. Click here for more JASNA News (although the article about Laurie is not available online).

Needless to say we were delighted to be mentioned in such a public forum. Please join Laurie and me in our Tuesday night discussion, 7 pm Pacific time and 10 pm EST!

Win a Book!
In honor of this new feature on Jane Austen Today, Laurie will be giving away five autographed copies of the paperback version of her novel!

If you have questions to ask of Laurie about her best seller or the writing process please leave your comment below. On August 12th, we will draw a commentor's name and award a book to that person! Even better, Laurie will answer all the comment questions.

The first two people to sign in the chatroom and begin talking will also receive books. The last two people in the chatroom will receive books as well. How much fun is that? So, mark your calendars, Janeites, and join us for a two-hour gab fest in August.
