The History of Valentine Cards


Candice Hearn has written an informative series of posts about Valentine cards. Considering the important role they played in a plot development in Cranford, we thought you might be interested in knowing more about their origin. Cranford is set in the 1840s, when postal rates in Britain became standardized. It was during this time that Valentine cards became increasingly popular.
