Oh, What Fun! A New Contest

Contest is Over! Win a new Georgette Heyer book from Sourcebooks by simply leaving a comment on this post. We'll draw the winner on June 14th. You can win in two ways:

If you are already a Georgette Heyer fan, let us know who your favorite Heyer heroine is and why. You'll have a chance to win a copy of False Colours.

If you have never read one of Georgette's regency novels, tell us what you know about her and why you would like to start reading one of her novels. You'll have a chance to win a copy of a Lady of Quality.

We'll announce a winner from both categories on Father's Day!!

About:

False Colours
A missing twin
Something is very wrong, and the Honourable Christopher “Kit” Fancot can sense it. Kit returns to London on leave from the diplomatic service to find that his twin brother Evelyn has disappeared and his extravagant mother’s debts have mounted alarmingly.
A fortune in the balance
When the incorrigible Lady Fancot persuades her son to impersonate his twin (just for one night, she promises) the masquerade sets off a tangled sequence of events that engage Kit’s heart far more deeply than he’d ever anticipated with his brother’s fiancée—who might know much more about what’s going on than she cares to reveal...

Lady of Quality
Miss Annis Wychwood, at twenty-nine, has long been on the shelf, but this bothers her not at all. She is rich and still beautiful and she enjoys living independently in Bath, except for the tiresome female cousin, who her very proper brother insists must live with her.

When Annis offers sanctuary to the very young runaway heiress Miss Lucilla Carleton, no one at all thinks this is a good idea. With the exception of Miss Carleton’s overbearing guardian, Mr. Oliver Carleton, whose reputation as the rudest man in London precedes him. Outrageous as he is, the charming Annis ends up finding him absolutely irresistible.

I'm already a Heyer fan and although I haven't read all her books this is a difficult question as almost all the heroines I've read about were interesting. I'll go with one of the first ones I've read - Horatia from The Convenient Marriage, she was a mix of determination, confidence, innocence and in definite need of being saved from herself. It's a fun read and one of the books I reread for comfort.

Are people from India allowed to participate?!?
Ooh the choices! I think my favourite would be Prudence from The Masqueraders. She was brave, honest, independent, knew what she wanted in life, but was willing to give it up for her family, was extremely loyal, but not so much of any of that to become annoying!

I haven't read any, only because I just really don't know where to start! :) So many people have so many favorites! But I sure would love to start -- I live for Regencies of any kind! :)

I haven't read any Heyer books because I can never seem to find any at any libraries or book stores! What I know of her, mostly, is that she is an amazing writer and that I can't wait to (finally) be able to read one of her books :)

I've never read one of her books. I could never find them in the library or in bookstores and haven't had time to pick up one of the newly published ones! Am very excited to start, though. She sounds like perfect summer reading!

Ooooh, I'd like a go. I haven't read any of her work, as yet, but already feel a draw from just the synopsis. I'd love another author to transport me.

I've never read any of her books, but recently someone on another blog was raving about them and I had been thinking that I should give her books a try. :)

I've only read one Heyer novel, The Black Moth, so I guess that is my favorite. :-) I recently purchased two of her books and I am looking forward to reading them.

I've never read a Heyer book but have been hearing a lot about her on the Jane Austen blogs lately. I think they sound like fun reading that lets you learn a little, too. Besides, if a Janeite recommends books/authors, I have to give them a try! :)

I'd only heard of Heyer in passing before Robin McKinley started a discussion about books on her blog, and included Heyer as one of her go-to authors. If an author like McKinley, who writes such awesome stories and kick-ass heroines enjoys Heyer, then I'm definitely there. Also, Heyer sounds like great Snowy-Sunday-with-a-warm-cuppa kind of reading.

Hi, I hope I'm not too late to give my comments. I have not read any Georgette Heyer books yet. All I know is that she wrote romance stories from the Regency era and I would like to give it a try as I read favourable comments from here and other blogs.
