This holiday represents a truly unique American tradition. The closest we can approximate this feast to food in Jane Austen's day is by looking at it from a colonial perspective. Williamsburg, a reconstructed city in Virginia, is located exactly one hour from my door if I drive over the speed limit. I visit it often, especially when visitors come to town. This article in Southern Living describes how the day can be celebrated in this popular tourist city. (I have replaced the links within the article with those of my own choosing.)All of [the restaurants] offer superb holiday
Dessert can't be any better than their warm mincemeat pie. But you might be talked into tasting their seven-layer chocolate cake.
Have a safe and happy holiday! Vic and Laurel Ann
