Marvel Comics have given us a sneak peek at five pages from the new comic adaptation of Pride and Prejudice which includes this portrait of the five Bennet daughters. They are so pretty they could pass for supermodels; even Mary Bennet who is not a looker in the original novel but appears to of had quite a makeover! I had a good laugh at this glamification since Jane Austen only described Jane Bennet as a real beauty. Check it out and give us your decided opinion! The black lips look quite Gothic. Kitty is a redhead. Seems Lydia should be. ;-)
I'm afraid the comic book genre by definition is 'exaggerated everything', offering visual rather than literary stimulations. I guess P & P the comic version is luring anime fans rather than catering to Janeites and book lovers.
They all look like they are ready for a rumble or at least "clobberin' time" As I have said before, if it gets people interested in the novels, it is O.K. with me...I draw the line at the idea of Elizabeth, Darcy and company fighting off Zombies though !!!
The sneak peeks are lovely. I want to frame every page and hang them in my study. V. excited to see some more Darcy
