Aisha: Bollywood's Emma

Sonam Kapoor plays Aisha, the Bollywood version of Emma. (Aisha) The film is scheduled to be released on August 6. Click on image to enlarge.

The film is a family production - Sonam's father directs the film and plays Mr. Woodhouse, and her sister produces it.

Click on Strange Girl blog to watch a preview video. (It is spoken in Hindi).

It seems "different" but I am willing to give anything a try! Bollywood very popular in my part of the world.

I'm excited for this movie. I loved Bride and Prejudice, and this looks similar.

O.k before I comment on the post I must say "Welcome back Nigel" You were sorely missed !

The story of "Emma" will transfer very nicely to a Bollywood production. Like the setting and inner workings of the plots in the book, India has very specific socio-economic lines drawn there as well ( class/cast )

Yes, it is nice to see Nigel, who, for two years, was a regular. He has been busy lately! Nice to see your comment, Nigel!

Just saw this film today. You can see my comments in the blog.

By the way, it isn't Sonam's dad (anil kapoor) who plays Aisha's father in the film.

Interestingly, in yesterday's paper, Sonam was quoted to say that she loves VICTORIAN novels like Emma - obviously she doesn't know much about Jane Austen though she plays Emma very well.
